Where could we find such amazing works as those we find in the gospel of Jesus Christ? It is incomprehensible, or impossible to comprehend, that the only Son of God would become Man. He is Immanuel, which means, “God with us”. It is difficult to believe that the Master, the Lord of Lords, would choose for Himself the role of servant and become obedient even to death – death on a cross! The King of Kings laid aside His heavenly power and accepted a mocking crown of thorns. The supreme Judge of the living and dead would Himself be judged, condemned and executed by and for mere man. Nevertheless, all of this is true, and although we do not understand it, the Best Friend of mankind was despised and rejected by mankind.
What is more, He left the majestic glory and splendor of His Father, denied Himself and came to walk this earth, which is corrupted and cursed because of sin. He did not even have a place to lay His head! Giving up His rights alongside His Father and above the holy angels, He was pleased to eat and drink with despised sinners.
Possessing all wisdom, He associated with the simple. The Almighty became as weak and defenseless as a lamb. “No man ever spoke like this Man!”, “yet He opened not His mouth” in His own defense. Holding full power over sickness and pain, He endured the unspeakable agonies of the cross of Calvary.
Perfectly innocent, “He was numbered with the transgressors”. Pure, holy and righteous, He died the death of the worst criminal. Infinitely precious, He was sold for the price of a slave! No human ever received so much evil treatment, and this was in exchange for so much good!
Could any sacrifice be more complete? In reality, He gave Himself, “the just for the unjust”; and by means of such an “indescribable gift” the grace of God in salvation was manifested.
He offers “so great a salvation” “with joy inexpressible” and “unsearchable riches” in the form of “an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled”. The peace given “surpasses all understanding”.
He thus made available to the miserable, poor, blind, naked sinner a glimpse of the face of the righteous God, Creator and Lord of all. Such a person, as a believer, is able to cry from the depths of the heart, “Abba, Father”.
The Lord Jesus came to save the sinner and seek the lost. The Master came to serve and suffer – to give His life as a ransom for your soul. Is it possible that you would despise such a great salvation, purchased at such an incalculable price?
Dear reader, do not pass up this opportunity to receive the salvation of your soul and a new life with Christ. Open your life to the Lord so He can come in and reside in you always.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (GT – Good News.).
