Agape for Anthropos: What Philanthropy cannot do?
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
… God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
… Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
… When He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high ….
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
